Microsoft Xbox NUads
Program technology, user interface
About the project
Xbox LIVE is, in large part, shaping the future of home entertainment. The launch of Kinect technology during the winter of 2010 created more opportunities for realtime interaction between user and brand, yet technology to facilitate this had yet to be developed. Rational collaborated with the team at Xbox to build a natural, intuitive, and interactive way to connect users to respective brands. Natural User Interface ad technology – "NUads" – from Xbox LIVE was born.
Rational designed and developed NUads technology, connecting users and advertisers like never before. Instead of consumers seeing an ad of interest and forgetting about it within minutes, NUads technology gives them the option to "like" it on facebook, "tweet" about it to their friends, schedule the event directly into their phones, email themselves more information, and/or receive coupons—all with the wave of a hand or mention of a few words.
This exciting project has allowed Rational to pioneer new realms in Xbox technology while maintaining an intuitive and natural user experience. NUads are projected to be an immediate success; consumers will be seeing these new features as early as the spring of 2012.

MOGO
Website, strategy, consulting, email marketing
About the project
MOGO creates charms -- and the accessories that go with them -- for the tween market. The company chose Rational to create an online experience for site visitors that would be fun and as unique as the MOGO charms themselves.
The site creates a landscape where young users can take quizzes and play games that will match their mood to a MOGO charm. In addition, tweens can design bracelets and share their creations with friends and family.
The new site also makes it easy for young shoppers to find out which retailers carry their favorite charms.

AT&T
Website, collateral, email campaigns, digital campaigns
About the project
The redesign for the AT&T Developer site needed to closely connect to the graphic style and feel of AT&T’s Rethink Possible brand revitalization. The bold, graphic shapes, layering, and human-centered feel of the consumer facing site needed to translate to the more reserved, cooler color palette of the developer site. Additionally, the redesign needed to maintain credibility and a recognizable identity with the developer audience.

Healthy Paws
Strategy, design and website development
About the project
Healthy Paws Pet Insurance sells insurance protection for cats and dogs. Rational was selected as the agency to launch an online presence that included the design and development of healthypawspetinsurance.com. With streamlined lead generation processes built into the user experience and a robust sales force customer-care solution, Rational was able to design and deliver the entire online experience and the supporting marketing campaigns.

Vittana
Website design and development
About the project
Vittana is a charitable organization that uses micro-loans to fund the education of students in developing countries. Small loans of $25 add up and can transform the lives of these students. With a Vittana-funded education, students often earn 10 to 20 times more money annually than they would earn otherwise.
Rational worked with Vittana on a website re-design that highlights students who have received such a transformative loan. The new design clearly identified how Vittana works and, in addition, featured precise calls-to-action that encouraged visitors to donate to the cause.

Bing Maps
Website design and marketing support
About the project
In 2009, Virtual Earth changed its name and brand to align with the new Bing decision engine and became the Bing Maps Platform. The audience for the Bing Maps Platform shifted as well. The Platform now serves a much broader audience that includes developers, small business owners, and non-profits as well as larger enterprise organizations.
Rational re-designed the Bing Maps Platform website and produced marketing materials to map to the Bing brand and to provide critical platform information to a broader audience. The resulting product marked a clear path that defined the tasks for each new audience.

Salt Interiors
Branding strategy, website design and development
About the project
MNID is a custom interior-design service that works with clients involved in condo development, hotel and restaurant management and high-end homes. In order to expand their services to a new demographic segment interested in design – but not quite ready for an expensive engagement - MNID created Salt Interiors. This secondary brand offers a set of customized design solutions that are based on preset “design styles” that are ordered online. Clients simply provide the dimensions and a few details about the room or space they want to enhance.
Rational created the initial naming and brand exploration for SALT and designed the entire online experience. In addition, our creative team designed and built a back-end database for the company that enabled them to customize customer orders online and effectively manage their ever-expanding product line.

Bottle Shock
Website, social media campaign
About the project
Bottle Shock is a Hollywood feature film produced by Zin Haze Productions. When the movie was released on DVD, Zin Haze wanted to raise awareness with a social media campaign. Rational conceptualized, designed and executed an integrated campaign with a contest which encouraged viewers to share their personal story about when they watched the movie. The concept was simple. The best “story” won a trip to Napa Valley to visit some of the sites where the movie was filmed.
When the campaign began, word quickly spread among wine lovers. Impressions grew to over 300,000 and YouTube channel viewings rose more than 150 percent – with many shared through Twitter and Facebook postings. The entire effort is still paying off with DVD sales that have continued well past the movie’s release date.

Washington Hall
Integrated campaign, Facebook application
About the project
Historic Seattle needed to raise funds to complete the renovation of Washington Hall, a historic building in the city that will be used as a performance venue and a community center. In order to win a grant from the 2010 Partners in Preservation program from American Express, Historic Seattle had to secure online votes for this crucial initiative.
To help spread the word to the online world, Rational created an integrated social media campaign that included an email outreach, a twitter campaign and a custom Facebook app that encouraged supporters to vote and share their photos. The campaign was a huge success. It helped Washington Hall win a $90,000 grant, the third largest in the contest!
